Volunteering

Have a passion for horses and a bit of spare time? PGER would love to have you! First you need to start with an orientation. Orientations take approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour. We have them most Sundays starting at 11;30 (you will need to book for this). Your orientation will consist of a tour through our facility. You will meet all the horses and other critters that live here and get a brief history on each. After your orientation you can call or email us to set up a day and time that works for everyone for your next visit. We run different programs out here at PGER (programs for the mentally/physically challenged for example) so our volunteer times will vary.

What does volunteering entail?

Most volunteers will do some small chores around the farm like filling water troughs or wiping down tack. For the most part we have our volunteers brushing and walking the horses. Long time volunteers that are interested can also groom and ride suitable horses.

Although there is no age requirement for volunteers, we ask that anyone under the age of ten have an adult accompany them. There will always be someone on site to answer questions or in case of an emergency but many times we are busy working with other horses or doing chores so volunteers need to be able to handle the horses independently.

We are most certainly beginner friendly and willing to teach the basics, but for those wishing to expand their horsemanship knowledge and/or take riding lessons, we do provide that service at an hourly rate of $25.
